2012 Global Summit of regulatory science successfully held

By the U.S. government and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Medical Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhejiang University, co-sponsored "regulatory science 2012 Global Summit" (2012 Global Summit on Regulatory science, GSRS) held recently in Hangzhou.

Many experts from 11 countriesattended this meeting, including FDA-National Toxicology Center Director, Chairman of the U.S. Society of Toxicology, W. Slikker; the EU Drug Administration herbal Chairman Werner Knöss; the international toxicology Union Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Japan Society of Toxicology J. Kanno; Netherlands Toxicogenomics group pharmaceutical regulatory science director of the Center, Professor J. Kleinjans; India Toxicology prehospital Dean PK Seth; Korean FDA-State Food and Drug Toxicity Evaluation and Research Department, Director SY Han; University of Oxford, United Kingdom SA Sansone. Experts from China included Clinical pharmacologist Prof. Hong-Hao Zhou, drug safety evaluation experts Academician Chang-Xiao Liu, Vice Secretary-General of the State Pharmacopoeia Commission Zhou Fucheng, Institute of Food and Drug test vice president Li Bo, the Executive Committee of the National Pharmacopoeia Commission Chief Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard material and director of the Professional Committee, Zhejiang University Professor Cheng Yiyu.

Yang Shengli, Director of the Medical Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Engineering academician, represented a speech at the opening ceremony of the General Assembly. During the meeting, accompanied by Professor Fan Xiaohui,  international counterparts visited Chinese universities and drug regulatory science laboratory. Pioneering work was praised by the experts.

The GSRS is the annual international conference, initiated by the U.S. Government FDA trying innovative products for the global pharmaceutical regulatory policy makers, cutting-edge scientists, translational medicine and bio-cutting-edge technology entrepreneurs to provide a collaborative platform for innovation. First GSRS meeting was held in 2011 in the U.S. National Toxicology Center. The 2013 annual conference hosted by the University of Puerto Rico. This meeting got the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education.
