The Zhejiang University & Nagoya University Joint Symposium on Life Sciences

      The 65th West Lake International Symposium on Life Sciences Organized by College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, China and Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, Japan, was held in Zhejiang University, Hangzhou on 20 November, 2010. Prof. Jianhua Qi of Zhejiang University and Youji Sakagami of Nagoya University chaired the conference.
      This symposium attracted more than 100 participants from Zhejiang University, Nagoya University, Zhejiang University of Technology, etc. Prof. Zhong Chen, executive vice dean of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, gave an opening remarks.
This symposium focused on life sciences, invited speakers, Prof. Tosiya Endo, Prof. Mikio Nakazono, Prof. Kenji Kadomatsu, Prof. Shun’ichi Kuroda, and Prof. Tohru Yoshimura from Nagoya University, Prof. Zhong Chen, Prof. Shaojian Zheng, Prof. Su Zeng, Prof. Huixia Shou, and Prof. Jianqing Gao from Zhejiang University giving wonderful lectures which covered 5 topics including the fields of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical analysis, and plant sciences, etc. All the professors shared the latest achievements, the development tendency and the experiences in their research fields with audiences. At last, Prof. Tosiya Endo, a leading scientist of Nagoya University gave an excellent speech entitled “Molecular mechanisms of biogenesis of mitochondria”, he also introduced the Nagoya Univ. Global 30 International Programs, and hoped that more and more Chinese students  go to study and work in Nagoya University. This symposium provided a very good opportunity for academic exchanges and cooperation between experts and scholars from Zhejiang University, Nagoya University.
