The 19th Asian Games Torch Relay in Hangzhou has been launched since 8 September in Hangzhou, with more than 2,000 torchbearers from all walks of life taking part in the event. On 17th September, Zhen Gu, Qiushi Distinguished Chair Professor, Dean of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director of the Jinhua Research Institute of Zhejiang University, took part in the torch relay as the 103rd torchbearer in Jinhua.

Zhen Gu: I am honoured to carry the Asian Games torch in this ancient and beautiful city of Jinhua. As a formulation scientist researching drug delivery and release, I think the torch symbolises the inspiration and pioneering leadership of light, and the torch relay is even more important to transmit the spirit and power of self-improvement and unity of purpose. As a teacher, our priority is to pass on new knowledge to students, the spirit of inheritance, and strive to learn and carry forward the spirit of educators; in the School of Pharmaceutical Science of Zhejiang University, we are strengthening the chain of education and drug creation chain of mutual integration and mutual reinforcement, and high-quality construction of global competitiveness, for the health of mankind to assume the mission of the pharmaceutical power of the pharmacy innovation personnel training system. The nurturing process under the interweaving of the double chain will further highlight learning, thinking, practicing and understanding: leading students to learn the basic knowledge of drug creation, think the innovative spirit of drug creation and learn the spirit of drug creation and think the innovative spirit of drug creation. We will lead students to learn the basic knowledge of drug creation, think the innovative spirit of drug creation, practice the translational orientation of drug creation, and understand the original intention of drug creation to benefit the people.
