1. The Medicinal Chemistry Discipline

The medicinal chemistry discipline was approved to grant the master and doctor degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1986 and 2003 in succession. It has 28 doctoral candidates and 49 master candidates respectively. Professor Hu Yongzhou’s team has been nominated as the “5A” Graduates Guiding Team of Zhejiang University. Great efforts have been made to provide the graduates with various learning and communicating opportunities outside China, for example, over 20 graduates have been selected successively to conduct international cooperation and exchange and attend international academic conferences abroad, including European countries, America and Japan etc.. Graduates of this discipline have published more than 200 SCI papers on journals like the J Med Chem, JACS and Angew Chem Int Edit and have earned multiple credits and titles, including the National Scholarships, the Hausen Academic Innovation Awards and the Good Doctor Academic Innovation Awards. Up till now, the medicinal chemistry disciplinehas delivered totally 78 doctors and over 200 masters to the society, who are actively making their contributions in such fields as teaching, scientific research and commercial investment all over China. 

2. The Pharmaceutics Discipline

The pharmaceutical discipline was approved to grant the master and doctor degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1986 and 2003 respectively. It has 37 doctoral candidates (including 3 international ones) and 38 master candidates respectively. Up till now, it has delivered totally 38 doctors and over 100 masters to the society. Professor Gao Jianqing’s team has been nominated as the “5A” Graduates Guiding Team of Zhejiang University. In order to keep the graduates timely informed about the up to date development of this field, the discipline offers various learning and communicating opportunities outside China, including selecting and sending graduates to European countries, America and Japan and Korea to conduct international cooperation and exchanges and attend international academic conferences. Graduates of this discipline have published more than 250 pieces of SCI papers on journals like the Angew Chem Int Edit, ACS Nano, Theranostics, J Control Release, Biomaterials, ACS Appl Mater Inte, Nanome-Nanotechnol, Mol Pharm and J Biomed Nanotechnol and have earned multiple credits and titles, including the National Scholarships and Zhu Kezhen Scholarships etc.. Graduated students from this discipline are either actively making their contributions in such fields as teaching, scientific research and medical industry all over China or furthering their studies as doctoral candidates or post-doctoral candidates in prestigious universities both at home and abroad. 

3. The Pharmaceutical Analysis Discipline

The pharmaceutical analysis discipline was approved to grant the master and doctor degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1984 and 2000 in succession. It has 51 doctoral candidates (including 3 international ones) and 52 master candidates respectively. Up till now, it has delivered totally 60 doctors and over 200 masters to the society. Professor Zeng Su’s team has been nominated as the “5A” Graduates Guiding Team of Zhejiang University. In order to keep the graduates timely informed about the up to date development of this field, the discipline offers various learning and communicating opportunities outside China, including selecting and sending over 30 graduates to European countries and America to conduct international cooperation and exchanges and attend international academic conferences. Graduates of this discipline have published more than 300 pieces of SCI papers on journals like the Sci Transl Med, Nat Commun, Biochem Pharmacol, Drug Metab Dispos, Biochim Biophys Acta, Bitr J Pharmacol, Autophagy, WIREs Comput Mol Sci, Adv Drug Delivery Rev, J Chromatogr A and Anal Chemand and have earned multiple credits and titles, including the National Scholarships and Zhu Kezhen Scholarships etc.. Graduated students from this discipline are either actively making their contributions in such fields as teaching, scientific research and medical industry all over China or furthering their studies as doctoral candidates or post-doctoral candidates in prestigious universities both at home and abroad and more often than not, they will be receiving many offers from first-class universities of America and Hong Kong etc. after finishing their post-doctoral research. 

4. The Microbiology and Biochemical Pharmacy Discipline

The microbiology and biochemical pharmacy discipline was approved to grant the master and doctor degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 2000 and 2005 in succession. It has 21 doctoral candidates and 21 master candidates respectively. Up till now, it has delivered over 50 doctors and over 100 masters to the society, who serve as a group of high-end academic research and technological innovation talents for high-level research institutes and pharmaceutical enterprises. The microbiology and biochemical pharmacy discipline intends to foster high-level talents with noble characters, international visions and innovative spirits, who, backed by rigorous, realistic scientific research attitudes and team spirits, solid theoretical knowledge and strong research technologies concerning microbial and biochemical pharmacy, are able to perform researches and develop new drugs on their own. 

5. The Pharmacology Discipline

The pharmacology discipline was approved to grant the master and doctor degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1981 and 2000 in succession. One of the key aspirations of the discipline is to cultivate a high-level pharmacological talents team with international visions, strong innovation abilities and truth seeking spirits for pharmacology related fields, so it has been attaching equal importance to teaching and scientific research, actively engaging in discipline construction and teaching reform and dedicating to improving the teaching skills of young teachers. Over recent years, it has been seeing these efforts to flower, for example, it has won the first prize of the Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards of Zhejiang Province, the second prize of the Education Achievement Awards of Zhejiang Province and the Outstanding Award of the National Clinical Pharmacy Young Teachers Teaching Skills Competition etc.. Currently, It has 58 doctoral candidates (including 4 international ones) and 52 master candidates respectively (including 2 international ones). Professor Chen Zhong’s team and Professor Yang Bo’s team have been included into the “5A” Graduates Guiding Team of Zhejiang University. As for the graduates, active international exchanges and joint cultivation activities have greatly improved and strengthened their theoretical knowledge and scientific research abilities respectively; in addition, great efforts are also made to invite famous scholars of the pharmacological fields home and abroad to teach, lecture or hold seminars for academic exchanges so as to keep the graduates timely informed of the up to date trends and development of related fields and to open their minds to more diversified innovation and research concepts. Training and discussions concerning the experimental technologies are also launched regularly to have relevant knowledge, skills, wisdom and experience of the teachers and senior graduates imparted to the newly recruited ones and help them fit into the team quickly and adopt to the scientific research procedures in a better way. 

Supported by an all-round scientific pharmacological training system, this discipline has nurtured a great number of remarkable graduates who have published over 200 pieces of SCI papers on internationally prestigious journals like the Nature, Neuron, Nat Commun, Cancer Res, Autophagy and Oncogene and have won plenty of awards, including the Johnson & Johnson Asia Outstanding Graduated Thesis Award in Bio-tech, the Academic Award for New Doctoral Candidates, the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award of Zhejiang University and National Scholarships etc.. Up till now, it has delivered over 50 master graduates and 72 doctoral graduates to the society, who are actively making their contributions in scientific researches for both domestic and international universities, new drugs development, medical practice, high-level management in financial investment bank and other pharmacy or medicine related posts. In a word, they are becoming the pillar force for the development of medical industry. 

6. The Chinese Materia Medica and Engineering Science Discipline

this discipline recruits pharmaceutical graduates worldwide. Currently, it has 30 doctoral candidates (including one international student) and 23 master candidates respectively. Up till now, it has delivered 41 doctoral graduates and over 100 master graduates to the society. Professor Fan Xiaohui’s team has been included into the “5A” Graduates Guiding Team of Zhejiang University. In order to keep the graduates timely informed about the up to date development of this field, the disciplineoffers various learning and communicating opportunities outside China and has selected and sent more than 10 graduates to European countries, America and Japan to conduct international cooperation and exchanges and attend international academic conferences. Graduates of this discipline have published more than 200 pieces of SCI papers on journals like the Anal Chem, Chem Commun, Biochem Pharmacol, Biochim Biophys Acta and J Chromatogr A and have won plenty of honorary titles and awards, for example, 3 doctoral candidates are nominated for the National 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations, 4 doctoral candidates’ dissertations are included into Zhejiang Excellent Doctoral Dissertations, 2 master candidates’ dissertation are included into Zhejiang Excellent Master Dissertations and many graduates are granted with the National Scholarships and Zhu Kezhen Scholarships. With broad academic vision and interdisciplinary knowledge, the graduates we delivered either are engaged in teaching, scientific research and medical industry all over China, or making their contributions in well-known domestic and foreign enterprises and research institutions, including the Roche, the Pfizer, the Bayer, Tianjin Tasly, the East China Pharmacy, the Procter & Gamble, the Keysight, the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), the Office of Pharmaceutical Quality (OPQ) of the America FDA and the State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C etc.
