Liu xuesong was admitted to the Elite Mixed Class of Zhejiang Universitywithout examination. He acquired BS and MS degree of industrial automation, and then acquired Ph D. of Pharmaceutical Analysis, he is now a professor and Doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang University. Besides, he is Deputy Directorof Institute of Modern Traditional Chinese Medicinal and the director of Chinese medicine pharmaceutical engineering research laboratory.

Liu xuesong was engaged in the research and industrialization of Process Analysis Technology, Advanced Manufacturing Technology of TCM and Quality Control Technology for Pharmaceutical Process. He proposed micro-imaging and near-infrared spectroscopy for Process Analysis Technology. He established the Quality Control Technologies for Pharmaceutical Process and a quantity of Advanced Manufacturing Technology of TCM, which were realized in industrialization applications. In the last five years, he undertook 25 scientific research projects, which contain 10 projects of the National and Provincial, such as the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, High Technology Industrialization Project of NDRC, and so on. Four technologies leaded by him had obtained a provincial certificate for scientific and technological achievement and two of them were considered as advanced technology in the world.

The energy-efficient equipment “Counter-current extraction set” and “Vacuum Belt Drying Units” developed by Liu and his team filled the domestic blank, and the innovation technology developed by him had made more than one hundred million economic benefits. Liu xuesong and the group successively construct more than thirty digital production line of Chinese medicine, which made great economic and social benefits for the enterprise. The industrialization promotion of the core technology had enhanced the technology level of national Chinese medicine production and modernization level of the accessory equipment, moreover promoted the modernization process of traditional Chinese medicine.
