Recently, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission of Zhejiang Province issued a document, agreed to initiate the project of constructing Pharmaceutics Formulations Zhejiang Engineering Laboratory (PFZEL).

PFZEL will be based on the current situation and development of the overall objective of the development of bio-industry in Zhejiang Province and pharmaceutical industry requirements around the technological progress and structural adjustment of the pharmaceutical industry in Zhejiang Province, to carry out common key technologies of pharmaceutical formulations, and break the barriers in the industrialization of innovation preparation techniques to form a technology development system of the new formulation technology original innovation，technology transfer and industrial development, and to build a leading domestic research and service platform of the common key technologies of the pharmaceutical preparations, a tackle and services platform of the key technologies of the pharmaceutical formulations research, a R &D technology platform of the innovation pharmaceutical formulation, a industrialization technology transfer platform, a R&D technology platform of pharmaceutical excipients and a services and consulting platform of information technology.

Pharmaceutical formulations Zhejiang Engineering Laboratory will conducted by the college of pharmaceutical sciences, Zhejiang University and many large-scale backbone pharmaceutical enterprises in the province while the college of pharmaceutical will be the mainstay. Engineering Laboratory will be directed by Prof. Fuqiang Hu of the Pharmaceutics Institute of Zhejiang University. By constructing the Engineering Laboratory, we can improve the capability of independent innovation, cultivate qualified personnel the industry needed. And it will promote the industrialization of new pharmaceutical formulations, contribute to the optimization of the structure of the pharmaceutical industry in Zhejiang Province and has important strategic significance for the development of the coming "low-carbon economy" and "knowledge economy".
