GLP of Zhejiang University had acquired the certificate of SFDA (GLP12001039). It was the second non-clinical drug safety evaluation research institutions in Zhejiang, the third one in national comprehensive university, which acquired the GLP certificate.

Drug safety evaluation Research center was technology platform which was set up for the new drug development of the department of pharmacy, It began to build in December 2007, entered into the trial operation stage in March 2009, finally passed the on-site inspection of the experts from SFDA in December 2011, The organization, experiment equipment and research work  had been highly rated  by the experts. The safety evaluation research of new drug must be done in the lab which acquired the GLP certificate according to the current law of our country. The GLP certification made our university form new drug development  technology chain. It had important significance to improve the independent new drug research and development  capability, the ability of taking on important project and social service ability. It also added a convenient, efficient, reliable technical platform for preclinical safety evaluation, promoting the drug developing ability in our province and maintaining its technological leadership in quality of new drug research.

There are SPF animal experiment equipments, function laboratory and molecular biology laboratory.  The total construction area was more than 2000 m2. Areas of expertise cover molecular biology, pharmacology, toxicology, toxicologic pathology, pathophysiology, clinical laboratory medicine, experimental zoology, veterinary medicine and so on. Drug safety evaluation Research center in our university not only can undertake safety evaluation research work of novel drug, but also can provide service for safety evaluation of food,cosmetics, new materials. At the same time, it also offered technical service of animal experiments and test of professional indicators. During trial operation, the laboratory had taken on dozens of preclinical research projects of new drug and drug research projects of National and provincial level. It complete a lot of technical service projects for institutes of scientific research inside the school, providing important support for the complement of  life science scientific projects with high quality .(GLP center)
