Since the new Zhejiang University establishing on the basis of the amalgamation of the four former individual universities in 1998, through the assembling of disciplines, the integration of resource, the introduction of talent and the innovation of educational concept, and with strong research and teaching strength, the postgraduate education of College of Pharmaceutical Science of Zhejiang University achieved spectacular leaping development. Currently, the college has been authorized to confer Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine and Doctor’s Degree in six subjects which are Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy. We have a team of nearly 30 advisors, including academicians, Cheung Kong Scholars, QiuShi Shcolars and the laureates of National Outstanding Youth Fund. Now there are over 80 doctor postgraduates and over 140 master postgraduates on campus. To meet the pressing needs of the incumbent self-improvement, our college annually enrolls a class of about 60 postgraduates for course refreshing. Moreover, the thesis refresher and the application of Doctor’s or Master’s Degree of persons with equivalent education were also accepted.   

 In the 2004’s evaluation of degree and postgraduate education of college and universities and research institutes, both of the comprehensive educational level of our pharmacology and Chinese medicine subjects ranked the fifth in the country. In 2005, Chen Minjun, a Ph. D. graduate of Pharmaceutical Analysis, tutored by Prof. Cheng Yiyu，won the nominated award of national 100 pieces of outstanding doctoral theses.

  In the journey striding forward to the world-class university, adhering to the spirit of “Qiushi and innovation” and with the educational footstone of training the future leadership of the medical field with international vision, College of Pharmaceutical Science will actively explore the new model of postgraduate education by strengthening the development of subjects, deepening the reform of curriculums, implementing the outstanding thesis projects and strictly managing the degrees.
