CPS-ZJU and SPS-USYD Ink MoU for Strategic Cooperation

College of Pharmaceutical Sciences Zhejiang University (CPS-ZJU) and Sydney Pharmacy School University of Sydney (SPS-USYD) officially launched the relationship on establish strategic cooperation on Nov.22, Prof. YANG Bo, dean of CPS-ZJU and Prof. Andrew McLachlan, dean of SPS-USYD signed the the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) . Pro. FAN Xiaohui, vice dean of CPS-ZJU, Pro. CUI Sunliang and other professors attended the MoU signing ceremony.
“Since the discipline of pharmacy was selected into the China’s Double-First-Class Initiatuve, CPS-ZJU has been starting its goal for First-Class discipline worldwide. With the signing of MoU, CPS-ZJU devotes itself in developing strategic cooperation relationship with first-class universities and promote the internationalization process,” said Dean YANG Bo.
Prof. Andrew McLachlan said: “With the signing of the MoU, CPS-ZJU and SPS-USYD are going to sharing excellent teachers and students, which promotes teaching and scientific research. Both CPS-ZJU and SPS-USYD will reach a won-won result.”
The agreement includes a series of cooperation projects such as “3+1+1” Double-Degrees Joint Education Project, summer school projects, scholar visit projects and scientific research cooperation projects. Among them, “3+1+1” Double-Degrees Joint Education Project will select students with pharmaceutical background and the ones who are selected will complete three-year undergraduate study in CPS-ZJU and one-year research study with one-year graduate study in SPS-USYD. That is, in SPS-USYD, students will carry out their final-year research project and internship in the fourth year and graduate study for master degree in the fifth year. After meeting all the requirements, students who participated in the project will be given the bachelor's degree of Zhejiang University and the master's degree of the University of Sydney.
After the ceremony, academic exchange were held between two sides. Pro. Andrew McLachlan, Pro. Paul Groundwater, Pro. Mary Collins, Pro. Fanfan Zhou and Pro. Lifeng Kang from SPS-USYD gave talks on their latest research work respectively.
University of Sydney is the first-class comprehensive university in Australia, with a ranking of 42nd in 2019 QS ranking and 34th in 2018 US News Global University Ranking. The discipline of pharmacy of USYD ranked 18th in 2018 QS Ranking, which was shown as a first-class discipline worldwide.
