A delegation led by Dr. Paul M. Norris (Executive Director, Pharmacy Services and Materials Management at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC)), Dr. Mohammed S. Ghonim (Director of Pharmacy Services, LLUMC), Dr. Christopher Hauschild and Dr. Kim Wah-Wan (Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, LLUMC) were invited to visit our college during May, 9-15.
The delegation met with school leaders、faculty members and students from the college. During the meeting, Dr. Norris briefly introduced Loma Linda University School of pharmacy, including faculty members, class profile, PharmaD curriculum, students learning outcomes and performance indicators. Both sides expressed their hope to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange in more areas. The LLU School of Pharmacy is the only Seventh-day Adventist institution that offers the PharmD degree. It has had four classes graduate and has a 100% pass rate on the Pharmacy Board Exam.
During their stay, the LLU delegation visited the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and the Children's Hospital affiliated with the school of Medicine, Zhejiang University. They discussed the differences in hospital pharmacy (especially in clinical pharmacy) practices and services between the United States and China with directors of hospital pharmacy and clinical pharmacists. They gave the hospital pharmacists valuable comments and suggestions for future improvements to our pharmacy education and degree program.
